While I find Daylight Saving Time (yes, that’s Saving, singular, not Savings, plural) silly, ever since we’ve decided to change our clocks in Indiana, I’ve not been sure why we’re not on Central.
Arguments abound about business, and keeping up with New York City. One must assume no one in Chicago is doing business with anyone in New York City. And certainly not with Los Angeles. And that no one can do simple math to figure out what time zone someone else is in.
I interact with people in all three of these cities on a weekly basis, and I don’t seem to have an issue.
On the east coast, we mention a time and that’s that. For Chicago, we say “your time”. For the west coast, well, we don’t mention time too often. I guess it’s not such a big deal out there?
All of that to say, based on the sunset times in Indiana (10PM in the summer), and UPS Ground delivery times (next day from Chicago and two days from New York City), my vote goes to the Central Time Zone as being the logical choice.
Then maybe someone could open up a new Drive-In Theater, using your own vehicle’s stereo to pull in the audio. Now that would be retro AND up to date.
Crazy talk, I know.
