Rotkraut? No. Red Cabbage? Yes.

Brian walks into a German restaurant in Indianapolis and asks from some rotkraut to go.

The waitress looks at Brian in bewilderment and responds, “You want real kraut?”

Brian responds, “No, I want rotkraut. You know, ‘red cabbage’?”

The waitress responds, “Oh, you want red cabbage. OK.”

Brian takes his rotkraut, shares it with his oldest son, and ponders why “dumbing down” seems to be the American way.
