From the Mother’s Day 2013 Gift Guide:
Until recently I had no idea that you could purchase an electronic kettle, so I was looking forward to how the T-fal Balanced Living Kettle stacked up to a traditional stove-top kettle.
With a traditional kettle you fill it with water, boil the water, then depending upon what type of tea you’re brewing you either use the water right away, or let it cool a bit first.
With the T-fal Balanced Living Kettle there’s no need for waiting for water to cool since it has varying temperature settings. All of which seem very fast.
Plug in the base, fill the pitcher with water, set the pitcher on the base, select your desired temperature and turn it on. Once the water reaches your desired temperature, the kettle kicks off and you can immediately use the water.
The potential negatives that I see are that you cannot immerse the entire pitcher in water to clean it & the cord is pretty short. However, immersion is not such a big deal since it’s just water. And the cord is probably short on purpose since the instructions say to keep it towards the back of your counter, and if your counters are like mine, the outlets are on the wall just above the counter.
Overall I was very impressed with T-fal Balanced Living Kettle and can see this coming in very handy.
